NEW RANGE OF LTE COMPATIBLE PRODUCTS

Introduction: LTE is an initialism of the term Long Term Evolution, a new standard in the evolution of the 3G architecture which has become so widespread in mobile telephony. The new terminals, which will be operating very shortly, will be assigned the 790 to 862 MHz band (channels 61 to 69), thanks to what has come to be called the digital dividend.

What does it affect? Since the 800 MHz band corresponds to the UHF channels 61 to 69, TV reception installations may be affected by the LTE emissions. Both a transmitter antenna for mobile telephony as well as a LTE phone terminal may affect the TV installation.

Effects: Interference generated by LTE relay antennas. When a TV signal is amplified with a broadband amplifier (mast or central) or a programmable amplifier, the strongest LTE signal is also amplified. This generates an intermodulation which interferes with all the TV channels.

In addition, the presence of a strong LTE signal prevents the TV from correctly tuning the high TV channels, channels 55 to 60. The LTE signal may come from the TV antenna, but it may also come from the LTE telephone through the connectors and the coaxial cable patch cord that joins the outlet and the TV.

Solution: Alcad has launched a range of products on the market which provide a robust, guaranteed solution which makes TV installations compatible with the LTE new technology. In all of them priority has been given to protecting the installation, band-stop occurs at 782 MHz, at the point where channel 60 starts. This guarantees the functioning of the channel, even though there are some losses, and correct filtering after 790 MHz.

In existing installations which have either a broadband or programmable mast amplifier, a LTE band-stop filter will be added before the amplifier. The filter can be either for an indoor or outdoor mast.

If there is a preamplifier for an antenna box the antenna will be replaced by a LTE compatible model to improve the gain in the higher channels, and the preamplifier will not be used.

LTE compatible antennas will be used in new installations. In individual installations mast amplifiers with an inbuilt LTE filter will be used, and in cases where there is extreme interference, the mast LTE filter will be used before the amplifier.

In collective installations with a broadband or programmable amplifier a LTE filter will be installed before the amplification equipment.

Furthermore, a LTE filter should be added to the TV input to prevent LTE mobile phone interference.

9000186 NEO-086
9000196 NEO-096
9000086 GA-266
9000087 GA-456

Description: A range of UHF antennas that band-stop channels 61 to 69. Flatter response and higher gain in the high channels and preamps are not required, as they are with antennas by the competition.

Product: Mast amplifiers and BOs KITs

9030173 BO-366

Description: A range of LTE compatible mast amplifiers. They not only limit the UHF band but also incorporate a LTE band-stop filter from 782 MHz. In this way the LTE band is attenuated by more than 30 dB before amplifying the TV channels.

Product: LTE band-stop filters

Models/Characteristics:

Code Model Application
9020048 FR-619 Mast
9090042 RB-609 Head
9030166 RB-619 Home

Description: A range of LTE band-stop filters with different applications. The function of both the head as well as the mast application (FR-619 / RB-609) is to filter before the amplifier. The RB-619 application works inside the home, and it should be placed as close as possible to the TV antenna input. In all three models the rejection occurs after 782 MHz.
